| We are now August of 2008 |
| On top of all the organizing I'm doing (working on
achieving quorum at my co-op too) I'm doing the fights for a couple
films. Once they are all done, and if they hit the web, I'll put a
link up. More info to come, when I know, you'll know. The Paddy Crean Stage Combat Workshop is back!!! I am on of the organizers this year and am working hard to make it one of the best workshops ever! If you have an interest in stage combat or historical martial arts this is the place for you. Last workshop we have almost 50 instructors attend, a 2 to 1 student teacher ratio. You can't get that kind of diversity at any other workshop on the planet. If nothing else, New Years in Banff in a party not to be missed. If you are interested please hit the Banff Website and tell them I sent you, you won't regret it! In June I had another wonderful run with Opening Doors Theatre Company. I was fortunate enough to be cast in "The Best Little Whore House Goes Public." A little romp on the fun side if you will. I believe we sold out all our performances and this was do in no small part to the direction of Hector Cortis, music direction of Michael Levine and choreography by Dana Ball. This is a good theatre company and if you are in NYC you should plan to see there productions. www.ODTConline.org |
| Summary of 2007 |
| So I have been remiss in posting updates
so I am going to sum up a very eventful year. Banff: Was amazing. I know this is in my own self interest but the Paddy Crean workshop is an incredible time for anyone interested in stage combat. The comradery, the melting pot of different cultures and languages and the range of skills truly makes this a unique experience. And if you can find a more beautiful place then Banff, I challenge you to come and see it. New York: I had my New York premiere this year. I performed with The Opening Doors Theatre Company in a production of "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman." We performed at The Duplex and had a great show. I also choreographed the violence and my Superman and crew were incredibly trusting and we did some really fun stuff. A month or so later Opening Doors was kind enough to ask me to co-host their fundraiser. Three evening of unprepared hosting with a very funny ... made for a memorable couple of days. They haven't asked me to do anything else so that may be a good critique of my skills. North Shore Music Theatre: The is a "new" show on the market called "The Three Musketeers." This show has been around for almost a decade since it's workshop in Florida. It also played in San Jose where they made a recording with Sutton Foster, even. Last December it did a showing with Chicago Shakes and then ... I auditioned in May for the production and fully believe that I had one of my best auditions and call backs of my career. I read for Planchet, D'Artagnan's lackey and had the auditioners laughing so hard they stopped me before what I thought was my best joke. I heard nothing for the next couple days and then I got a call to come in and interview for the job of Fight Director. This was a big deal I wasn't completely sure how to go about it so I went to work as if I already had the job. I wrote out my research, choreographed a couple sequences, did my character backgrounds put it in a folder and went it. It was amazing the difference being on the other side of the table. Everyone came in and said 'hi' and thanked me for coming in and I made my case with Francis Matthews, the director. A week or so later I got a call offering me the Fight Director job. I was disappointed that there was not a position for me in the cast but I was not going to pass up this opportunity. A couple weeks later I was flying out to London to work with the director and composer, George Styles of "Mary Poppins" fame. If I never work on another show as an FD I will have no reason to complain. We had discussions about the show, concepts, characters and then I worked on the music. George would play what he had in mind, I would make my suggestions for what I thought the fight sequence would look like, we would all converse and then George would say "OK, I'll do that" and that was it. I will always treasure my time spent in London. We arrived in North Shore and after a very gracious party given by the producers and the theatre company we got to work. On the first day off we had a terrible accident playing basketball and our Rochforte had a 90% rupture to his Achilles heel. He had to have surgery and went back to Florida to recoup with his family. End result being, I was swung into the show. The next two weeks were a non-stop rush. From running my own rehearsals, meetings, interviews for the press and fitting in every show rehearsal I could - I spent most of the time in a state of exhaustion. It was awesome. This was one of the most enjoyable times in my life. Hands down. |

| I'm looking forward to the New Year as I
have just become the newest member of the faculty for the IOS&P's "The
Paddy Crean International Art of the Sword Workshop" to be held just
after New Years in Banff, Alberta, Canada. I love this workshop
and have attended as many of them as possible in the past. I'm
extremely excited to be returning to this place of incredible natural
beauty and have an opportunity to play with some of the worlds best
fight directors and choreographers. If anyone wishes to join me at this incredible workshop simply click here to learn all about it: Stage Combat Workshop I'm honoured and thrilled to be part of this workshop and I'm busting at the seams for New Years. If anyone likes to ski - there is some of the best around the world directly outside Banff. |

| Beauty and the Beast is
coming to a close in Hilton Head and I'll be heading back to New
York soon. There are lots of projects in the works so look
back here soon. I wand to say "thank you" to all the people in Hilton Head for making our cast a part of their family for a couple months! You can now find Karen and I at www.thebkcreation.com |

| Happy New Year everyone. I
apologize for the delay in information, complete electronic shut-down
occurred and it has taken me quite some time to get back on my feet.
But now, here I am! Once again I am off to do...what...Beauty and the Beast! Lefou will be had once more and I couldn't be happier. It may be sad to say but I love this role and will do it until I stop getting hired or I'm broken. Arts Center for Coastal Carolina in Hilton Head, SC, is where I will be for April and May so if you are in the area please come by and say hello. On a side note Karen and I have partnered with Market America and are now business owners! Karen is now a cosmetic customization specialist and I will be working on website design with state of the art point and click technology. Don't worry, this website is staying old school! But if you know anyone that needs custom blends or a new website email us here and we'll post when our business website is up. |

| Karen Elizabeth Christensen
and I were finally married on the 15th of October, 2005. So far, all
is well. I didn't think I could feel closer to Karen but the act of
marriage in front of our dearest friends and family has strengthened our
bond. We are healthy, happy and look forward to a future filled with
adventures and joy. Thank you to all those who sent their good
wishes. My production of Beauty and the Beast in New Orleans has been delayed and with any luck will be raised from the ashes soon. We wish all those in the South our very best. Although it no longer makes the news, many cities have been laid to waste and the destruction is only now being understood. If you haven't already given to a charity, please consider doing so. I wish everyone a safe and amusing Halloween! |
| September 20th, 2005 |
| Horrible things have happened to New Orleans and parts of the south. If you haven't already done so, please give to a charity who will do their most to improve the lives of those displaced. Karen and I gave to a charity to help the animals who were stranded and abandoned. Every penny helps and any charity that you feel connected to will gladly accept whatever you can give. As my parents live in New Orleans and because I have worked and was slated to work again in the crescent city this tragedy has had resounding effects on me. We are counting our blessings as my family and their home are fine and no-one I know lost their lives but many have lost their livelihoods - our sympathy and strength our yours. |

| I have been remiss and not
notified you of another production of Beauty and the Beast. This
time it was with West Virginia Public Theatre in Morgantown, West
Virginia. It was a quick one, one week rehearsal and one week
performance. I do have to say that it was a bit of a rush to put a
show of that size up in that amount of time. Again I worked with a
stellar cast most of whom had done the show before and those that did not
pulled it together with great style and aplomb - my congratulations goes
out to them for a job extremely well done. I am back in town on the hunt for the next production and when I know something I promise to pass it on in a timely fashion. Thank you for all the well wishers out there, it is always appreciated. |
| April 29th, 2005 |
| Another opening day for a
great show. With a little extra rehearsal time we've managed to
re-work some rough spots and change things we wanted to change.
Although the rehearsals seemed long, here we are at opening. I have to admit that I love the role of "Lefou" and would be quite content to do it for years to come. It's a little hard on the body but I enjoy defying gravity immensely. North Carolina Theatre is a great place to work and they put on fantastic productions. If anyone gets a chance to support them please do, you will not be disappointed. |
| April 12th, 2005 |
| Opening day at the Fox
Theatre and the feeling of awe and wonder about performing on this
historic stage is overwhelming. I've taken some pictures of the
theatre and I strongly suggest everyone take a look at them.
It has been a wild ride. This is a monstrous production to mount in
a week and a half. Luckily, or by design, the cast is absolutely top
notch. There is years and years worth of Broadway and National Tour
experience on stage. About half of us have done the show before and
the mix of experience and new energy is exhilarating. It's a
terrific cast and anyone who sees this production will not be
disappointed. With more exciting news, roughly have this cast in moving to North Carolina Theatre. So if you miss us in Detroit you still have one more chance! |
| March 10th, 2005 |
| It has been a whirlwind couple of
months here in New York. I do have to say, that I love life in this
city, from my fiancé, my home, to the city itself, life abounds.
Although there was much controversy, The Gates in Central Park were
wonderful. They took you away from the busy city and brisk winter to
fill your soul with colour and awe. My personal thanks to the Cristos. In show news, it is back to Beauty and the Beast with me. Yes, I will be taking over the role of LeFou for not one, but two more production. The first at the Fox Theatre in Detroit April 12th to the 17th, and then in Raleigh, North Carolina from April 29th to May 8th. I'll have more information up when I am more informed. |
| December 31st, 2004 |
| We closed Biloxi with a bang!
It was a wonderful show with a wonderful cast and I am very proud to have
been a member of this production. The plans are to remount it next
year, so if you are in the New Orleans area, please keep looking for us -
we'll be bigger and better next year. On a sadder note, my heart and sympathies go out to the survivors of the tsunami that has devastated South Asia. I know we live in difficult economic times, but if you have some change to spare please give it to a respectable institution who's commitment is to passing the money along to the areas where it is needed most. I donated to the Mercy Corps, their website is www.mercycorps.org please give what you can. It may only be a few dollars to us, but if millions give, it will make a tremendous difference. And lastly, on a happier note, have a safe and
happy New Years celebration. Appoint your designated driver and
drink responsibly. May the New Year bring you all the joy and
promise you could desire. Best wishes. |
| December 14th, 2004 |
| We closed the New Orleans showing of Beauty and the Beast last night. The energy was excellent and we closed on a good note. With a couple days rest (a chance for me to get my voice back) we move off to Biloxi. A bigger venue, new challenges, and new excitement. Ah, live theatre, there's nothing like it. |
| December 10th, 2004 |
| In this weekend's edition of The Times-Picayune, Lagniappe (don't ask me what that means) we were reviewed quite fairly. Although we were correctly scolded for our technical errors, the cast was praised through and through. |
| The direction and choreography by Kenneth Beck some together best in the splashy production numbers "Be Our Guest," "Gaston," and the lovely title ballad. |
| ... another highlight is Belle's "A Change in Me," ... given a strong, expressive rendition by Savannah Wise, a beautiful, beguiling young singing actress who can best, warble and make even dialogue sing. |
| Stuart Metcalf is a rip-roaring Beast ... "If I Can't Love Her," [is] galvanizingly sung by Stuart Metcalf ... |
| ... Mrs. Potts is a good character turn ... [who sings] the lovely title ballad, sung with great feeling by Heidi Junius ... |
| ... Alan Payne's swaggering Gaston [is] operatically paunchy for the part, but he uses it comedically and when his magnificent bass-baritone booms out his songs nothing else matters. |
| ... "Gaston" [sung] with the male chorus stops the show. [Gaston] has a marvelously antic, frantic, knockabout comic foil in Bryce Bermingham's Lefou. |
| December 4th, 2004 |
| Beauty and the Beast opens to tremendous success. To our discredit, our technical aspects were a little rough, but everyone pulled together and gave some incredible performances. Thunderous applause followed all the production number and scene stealers and the standing ovation erupted with the final sound of the orchestra. It was very rewarding. We play New Orleans for two weeks before moving to the Biloxi's Grand Casino! You can get ticket information at www.jpas.org and performance dates on this website under; Media, Beauty and the Beast, Schedule. |
| November 28th, 2004 |
| Beauty and the Beast
is coming along swimmingly. All the pieces are starting to come
together and I can't say how impressed I am with it all - it will truly be
a great production. Don't forget to buy tickets and I have had some
production photos put up on this website to wet your appetite. Bon appetit! |
| November 20th, 2004 |
| Rehearsals for Beauty and the Beast are going great and the production is coming along nicely. I'm extremely pleased with the cast and the sets and costumes are beautiful. It's going to be a heck of a show, so if you are in New Orleans in the first couple weeks of December, come see us. If you are in Biloxi, Mississippi in the last couple weeks of December, come to the Biloxi Grand Casino and see our show! You can buy tickets online at: www.jpas.org |

| VOTE!!! Your decisions today will effect the world for the foreseeable future so make you voice heard. Today is the day, if you are looking at this website and have not voted yet, get off the chair and go VOTE! |
| October 15th, 2004 |
| Just a friendly reminder to go out and VOTE!! I would prefer it if you voted on the side of the environment and the arts, but you must follow your heart and which ever way it leads you, VOTE!! I feel very strongly that you should make your voice heard and be a responsible citizen. If you don't take responsibility then you are allowing others to decide your fate. Never allow someone else to decide the choices that are going to resonate throughout you life. |

| My tenure at Disney is coming to an end as I have passed in my two weeks notice. I'll be leaving "Snow White" as of the beginning of September and returning to New York for a couple months before heading off for my next show. Come November, I'll be in New Orleans, LA to perform in JPAS's production of "Beauty and the Beast" playing the role of LeFou. I'm extremely excited as this is a role I have longed to play. I'll have pictures posted as soon as I can. |
| April 20th, 2004 |
| I nearly forgot to mention that opening on June 11th, 2004 is "The Stepford Wives." I spent a couple days on set and will be seen (if you look really close) in the party scene, where I am one of the waltzers twirling around. The entire cast and crew was wonderful, no egos or temper tantrums to deal with and the stars were all remarkably friendly. Bette Middler and Glen Close stole my heart, they are two funny ladies, and yes, Christopher Walken is spooky in person. The movie stars: |
|
Nicole Kidman |
| The film was directed by Frank Oz, and he did decline to do Miss Piggy for us. Disappointing but understandable. |
| Please come out and support this film, it is very funny and the performances are excellent. But more importantly, I receive residuals from this one, so bring all your friends! |

We opened Snow
White, a New Enchanting Musical, on the 23rd of February, 2004 at the
Fantasy Land Theatre in Disneyland, CA. The
show is going great and the audiences love it. We are working hard,
through the heat! to deliver quality shows at every step and I am finally
becoming comfortable in all the hats I wear. All four to be precise! As of right now, I have no new contractual plans. I have not, however, ceased to work. I'm working on my voice and rep with Steve Orich, and am working out 5 to 6 times a week. Need to buff up for new headshots. In addition, I'm back at tumbling class - I want those round off back hand-springs!!! Thanks for stopping by for news, and as soon as something pops up, I'll let you know. Take care and play safe.
